Mary Reilly

Mary has been devoted to yoga and the Iyengar tradition for over four decades. She studied regularly at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute in Pune, India, from 1995-2018 and now continues her studies there remotely. Teaching since 1982, Mary was certified personally by B.K.S. Iyengar at the Intermediate Senior II level (now called Level 3). She directs North Woods Yoga, the B.K.S. Iyengar Center of Northern Michigan in Petoskey. Her teaching is known for its clarity and positive encouragement in helping students find their inner strengths.

Christopher Briney

Christopher Briney directs the Center for Iyengar Yoga in Royal Oak, Michigan. He has maintained a consistent personal yoga practice for over 28 years, and has been a student of Iyengar Yoga since 2002. Christopher holds a Level 3 Certification as an Iyengar Yoga teacher.  In 2014, he made his first trip to Pune, India to study at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute. His studies continue to this day via weekly classes with Prashant Iyengar. Christopher's teaching offers a rich blend of solid methodology gained from his extensive training, along with creativity and intuitiveness stemming from his lifelong practice of music, singing and songwriting. On Saturday evening, Christopher will perform music and lead us in an exploration of kirtan and "nada yoga" (the yoga of sound).

If you’re a teacher or student who wants us to showcase a Midwest Iyengar Yoga event on our website, please submit it to us.
