2011 IYNAUS Regional Conference, “From the Heartland”

September 15-18, 2011 in Chicago, Illinois

We are very excited that IYAMW has been selected to organize the second IYNAUS Regional Conference to be held in Chicago, Illinois.

The Mission: To share the clarity, artistry, depth, and discipline of Iyengar Yoga as a lifelong practice for body, mind, and spirit. The conference reaches out to Yoga practitioners of diverse races, ages, traditions, abilities, and economic levels. While uniting, invigorating, and expanding the community of Midwestern Iyengar Yoga practitioners, the conference will connect regional Iyengar Yoga teachers to a larger community. Finally, this gathering is offered as homage to our teachers: BKS Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar, and Prashant Iyengar.

The Conference: “From the Heartland” will offer classes taught in the Iyengar Yoga tradition to all students of yoga who are interested. Instruction based on the teachings of BKS Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar and Prashant Iyengar will inspire students to learn yoga in a safe, progressive, artistic and Self affirming way. The Conference promises to be a rich opportunity for shared learning and community with asana and pranayama classes, lectures on philosophy, and other special topics sessions, all expertly led by the finest of Certified Iyengar Yoga teachers.

The Venue: The historical Palmer House Hilton in the “Windy City” of Chicago, Illinois is the venue for this event. The Palmer House is an iconic, world-class, downtown Chicago hotel and gateway to the active Loop scene. And, the “City of Big Shoulders” certainly has plenty to see and do. Among attractions within walking distance from the Palmer House are: Millennium Park, Lake Michigan, Art Institute of Chicago, the Theater District, and the Magnificent Mile. Just slightly further away and easily reached by public transit are: Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Navy Pier, Museum of Science and Industry and more. Come early and stay late…there is definitely plenty to experience during time spent outside of the Conference.
